Alicia and Carrot

It's testimonials like these that allow me to turn a blind eye toward Alicia Silverstone for occasionally getting off the vegan diet when she goes out to restaurants with friends (whether that makes her vegan or not is up for debate).  Clearly I think I'm the vegan police!  She's making a great impact on people's lives and health, and that's very important.  Hats off, Alicia!

And lastly, Carrot (my only herbivorous housemate) would like to give you a kiss.

"Muuuaaah!"

  1. haha - love the bunny kiss!!! Great blog too, I recently bought Alicia's book and am considering the leap. Been veggie for 14 yrs. ...don't know if I could live without cheese though....love cheese\1

  2. Great photo, but Carrot thinks the enclosure is too small! :D (My dog had a giant back yard but it was never enough — I think he wanted the entire city at his disposal!)

  3. I am not the biggest fan either in spite of the fact that we have the same first name. I guess that means I have a bit of vegan police officer in my too. LOL

Love the bunny, too cute. I had a rabbit as a child they are great pets.

    Enjoy your weekend,
    Ali

  4. Andrea: Yes, I wish I could speak rabbit so I could tell him "if you want more than half of our living room then stop chewing up carpet and peeing on my pillow". But all he gets is a small space with gourmet meals. Poor thing : )

Ali: I mean "Alicia" : ) I didn't know that was your full name. Carrot is a great pet but will definitely be my last rabbit! He sure is cute, though.

  5. boho: trust me, once you go vegan you will lose your craving for cheese, believe it or not. I was a total cheese addict and now the thought (or the smell or the taste) is far from a craving. I was vegetarian for about that long actually, maybe a little longer, and the switch to vegan was surprisingly easy. I like how alicia silverstone describes it in one of her interviews as feeling "lighter". It's not physically lighter (although most lose weight, too) but spiritually and mentally lighter. I have never felt more tuned in to myself until I became vegan.

Also, do some research on casein. It is believed to have a morphine-like effect on the body/brain and is actually addictive, which may be why you feel you could "never" live without it (i really thought the same thing). Also have you ever read The China Study? I recommend it.

WOW! What a soap box, huh! Just bein' honest : )

Thanks for commenting! And I loved your dog in the snow pics this week : )

  6. Awww! What a beautiful rabbit, makes me think of my old bunny! Sounds to me like Carrot has a pretty darn good deal, but give him a piece of banana for me, please?! ;)

  7. : ) I'll give him a banana for you but I'll give him extra chard to supplement. All the fruit we give him makes for a kinda fat bunny.
